Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge - Graduation Card

Happy Sunday! 

It's been a very long time since I posted anything to my blog due to work being well.....WORK, lots of work! LOL!  Today I was cruising the ole' FB I saw Kim Hughes' Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge  and since I needed a graduation card, I thought I'd play along!  There is a sketch to use, so I did just that!

I used one of Kim's older stamp sets from back in her Cornish Heritage Farm Days (the owl and grad hat) and then one of her Paper Smooches stamps (the celebrate).

I thought a book page owl would look even smarter and more educated {LOL} so I stamped him on book page paper and cut him out and popped him up off the original stamped image. You can see it peeking out here in this picture.

This owl has got to be one of my all time favorite Kim Hughes creations ever! I love his lazy eyed look!

I had fun making this card and playing along with Kim's challenge.  It makes me want to keep on creating, but the yard work is calling my name and I must go answer it! Ha!

Graduate 2011

Happy Friday!

WOW! I thought Blogger had given up on all of us! I was ever so slightly worried!  Thank goodness we are back up and running! Yay Blogger! THANK YOU!

Today's card is a fun little guyish card.  I used to be afraid of making guy cards, but after a few years of practice.....I've become pretty comfortable with making them.  My general rule is no frillies or bows on my guy cards.  I think I've achieved that here today!

Uuuum, maybe.  I used some raffia I received wrapped around an Etsy purchase {yes, I save everything} and then added a vintage button and some button twine. And yes that is a bow, but I think its legal cuz its made from twine! lol!

This diploma was cut from the Cricut Wild Card cartridge as well as the numbers.  The numbers don't offer a shadow feature so I just cut one set in the printed paper and the other set in the solid paper and then staggered them when I glued them together to give the shadowed look.  I also added a little detail with my Copic marker to make all the lines the Cricut cut show up a bit better.

Well, that's one more graduation card down and I may have one more to make...I better go check on that! I hope you've enjoyed my card today and if you did, please leave a comment to tell me so! I love reading your sweet words!

Vintage Style Congrats

Happy Wednesday!

I hope your mid week finds you happy and well!  We got a much needed little rain shower yesterday afternoon and into the night. My flowers will love it!
Speaking of flowers.....how about a bunch of vintage flowers? I created this sweet card for one of the special graduates in my life using one of the Peggy Loves Vintage images. Love this one! Oh by the way, you could win some of Peggy's images! Check it out HERE!

I added some yummy lace I "discovered" in my stash along with one of my one looped bows.  It just makes it so girly!  I noticed that this year I've made all my graduation cards very nontraditional, but I like them!

This is a couple of Kim Hughes stamps I added together to make the sentiment.  I used purple ink to draw the purple from the image.

I stitched around the edge in a zig zag fashion and wished I had just used a straight stitch, but oh well, its done now and its kinda growing on me! lol!

Class of 2011

 Happy Saturday!

What a glorious day we are having here in Texas! WOW! I love this weather!

So, I have about 3 graduation cards to make this year and I guess now is as good a time as any to get started huh?

I made this card to play along in a challenge too.  It's over at Celebrate the Occasion....check it out! They give away prizes and who doesn't love prizes?

 I used my Wild Card Cricut Cartridge to cut out all the details for this card.  The "class of" is cut @ 8" and the "2011" is cut @ 2 1/2".

The hat and tassel is cut out @ 4".  I made the gathered ribbon by running two gathering stitches down the middle of the ribbon and then gathering it up.  Since my purple thread wasn't quite as dark as my ribbon I added the white stars to cover it.

That's one card down...now to get busy on the next one!  It will be a marathon to get all the cards I need to complete done by the month's end! Onward and upward!

Happy Graduation

Happy Thursday my sweet friends! We are getting closer to the weekend! Woohoo!

I have a graduation card for you today! My niece Hanna is graduating from High School soon and I had to make her a special card to remember the occasion with!

I used a printable stamp from The Cutting Cafe'. The set is called Happy Graduation Huge Circle Set. Regina makes the mose perfect sets when she creates! I cut out the star burst and the circle using my Nesties.

I cut out the graduation cap using my Cricut Locker Talk cartridge that I got at Hallmark Scrapbook, then I made a tassle with some embroidery floss. Just a little extra sumpin' sumpin' for extra interest. The paper I used for the cap is actually a scrap of Christmas paper!

I kept with her school colors...or tried to anyways! LOL! I love that yummy ribbon so much I just bought another spool of it! LOL!

Happy News! Congrats!

Happy Thursday my sweet friends!

Today I have happy news to share with you! My youngest son Jake received his diploma yesterday! This is huge for him. He made this really big decision to leave public high school (11th grade) back in February and finish his senior year through a private school. In just 3 short months he completed his courses and now has his diploma. He will be attending college in August.

Now, I know you're thinking, why in the world would we allow him to do this? Well, this child....er, um...young man has a plan and had it all worked out what he needed to do to accomplish this plan. His Daddy and I supported his decision and allowed him to follow his dreams a bit early! We are VERY proud of him and can't wait to see what he will learn when he goes to school in August. He is planning a career in computers...imagine that! LOL!

Okay, on to the card today! I thought this card was fitting in light of our good news!
I found this sweet little house mouse stamp in the clearance isle at M's and had to have it! I colored him with my Copic markers. That really cool black and white printed paper is more of my bill envelopes I've saved and upcycled!

The congrats stamp is a Kim Hughes stamp from the set called U R a Hoot! I also used my new Fiskars border punch along the bottom and added a few of my fun new antique buttons from Papertrey!

For this card I used Bazzill, Basic Gray and Imaginisce papers, the cap and grad sign came from my Cricut Locker Talk cartridge. I also used my new Martha Stewart punch, Prima flowers, dew drops, Stickles, cats eye chalk ink and some ric-rac.

This is Laura's first sketch.....I just love the hand drawn sketches...it's like you are getting a peek into their sketch books....so COOL!!!!

For this card I used Bazzill, American Craft and The Paper Studio papers, my Martha punch, pink pearls, studio g stamp from M's, dew drops and some yummy ribbon I can't remember where I got....LOL!!!

Another Graduation Card - BBTB Challenge

I think this Owl is one of the cutest cuts Cricut makes!!!!! This week over at Bitten by the Bug, Regina asked us to use this cut and I was so excited because I love it!!! I needed another gradutaion card so I used the Owl from the Cricut Happily Ever After cartridge and the saying and diploma are from Kim Hughes' stamp set called U R A Hoot, which I purchased from Cornish Heritage Farms.....the saying is stamped on an oval cut from the Cricut George cartridge. I used rain dots for her eyes and some ribbon and fiber from my stash....the paper is Basic Gray. A HOOT of a Graduation Card!

So I really love this stamp set by Kim Hughes....it's called U R A Hoot.....I got it at Cornish Heritage Farms....they have some awesome stuff there.......check them out!!! For this card I used Bazzill card stock and cut a card that measures 5 1/2 x 6.....I'm really liking this size card....it's a really FUN size to work with!! I stamped the owl, branch and hat and then cut them out. The hat is covered with orange Stickles for a fun look. The "wood look" paper is Cosmo Cricket and the white lined paper is a plain ole index card that I stamped and doodled on for a more authentic "school" look. The final feature is at the top.....I used my circle punch and only inserted the paper half way and punched it.....the "accent" is a large orange brad, two buttons and a dew drop....COOL huh? Hoot and Holler

Yes, it's GRADUATION time and I have a few cards to make for the occasion.....for this one I used a Kim Hughes stamp set called "U R A Hoot" which I purchased at Cornish Heritage Farms. I used black fun flock on the hat...it can also be purchased at CHF. The oval and star where cut using my Cricut George cartridge. I stamped the owl on printed paper and cut him out....when I glued him down, I left his wings free to give a bit of demension...the branch, diploma and hat were also stamped and cut out. The sentiment is popped off the card with a pop dot to add detail. Papers are My Minds Eys and Bazzill. Thanks for looking!!!
