Easter Glass Etching Tutorial

Happy Saturday my sweet friends!
Have you ever etched on glass before? Well, this was my first time...it's not perfect, but it sure was FUN! I'm going to try and explain to you how I made this "Easter Sweets" goodie jar today. I have big plans for lots more projects.....just gotta find the time! LOL!
Before I jump off into the tutorial, here's an up close shot of another one of my ribbon roses. I am luvin' making these things! You can see how to make them HERE.
This is one of the MANY Easter stamps that The Cutting Cafe' has in store for you. I just printed it out and then cut it and the star burst out with my Nesties....EASY!
Here you can see the etching. Oh, and I mean to tell you.....photographing glass etching is a very hard task! Could be it's the photographer though! LOL!
Here are my basic supplies for this project:

1 glass pint sized jar (16oz)
1 scrap piece of Easter fabric
1 length of ribbon for bow and rose
A few scraps of paper for the tag
Easter circle stamp set from The Cutting Cafe'
1 roll of vinyl
1 jar of Armour Etch (glass etching cream)
1 small paint brush for applying cream
1 Cricut machine
1 Doodlecharms cartridge (eggs)
1 Mickey Font cartridge (letters)
Start by cutting a 6" circle from your fabric of your choice. I used a large coffee can lid to trace my circle...very technical you know! LOL!
Using the Mickey Font cartridge, cut your greeting from the vinyl. I used 1' letters. Be sure to save the centers of the a's and e's for when you apply them to the jar for etching.
See here, I put the centers back on and I'm ready for the etching cream.
Apply the cream to the exposed glass. Wait to recommended amount of time and then wash off excess cream.
Using the Doodlecharms cartridge, I cut 18 eggs @ 1/2". This amount of eggs fit perfectly around my pint sized jar.
Be sure to smooth out the vinyl as best you can. This will prevent the etching cream from leaking into where you don't want it. YES, this happened to me! Grrrr!
Tah-Dah! Here's what it looks like after it's all done and dried off from the rinsing. When you are rinsing it, you're going to think it didn't work.....but as it completely dries, you will see the MAGIC! After you're finished with all the etching cream and the jar is all dried off, decorate as you like.
Like I said earlier, it's very hard to get a picture of etched glass...but maybe you can tell a little bit of how it turned out here.
  • BTW.....The Cutting Cafe is having a 2 for 1 SALE, now until Tuesday, April 14th at midnight! Woohoo! Go get you some printable stamps!
  • The WINNER of my blog candy is Jen!!!!! Here's what she said:
