2 Sketches 4 You Cocoa Bag Tutorial

Happy Monday to YOU!!! I know if you have visited my blog before you have noticed I love to play along with Kazan and Laura over at 2 Sketches 4 You every week where they post a new sketch on Mondays and usually have an awesome prize you could win or maybe be honored in the Fab 5 list.....Now for the FUN part....Those two sweet ladies contacted me to be their guest designer for this week. I was so excited I couldn't stand myself....how honored am I to be a guest designer for 2S4Y.....WOW, it is an amazing event for me. Kazan sent me her sketch and told me that this week their fun and awesome sponsor is Scor it.
All the designers were asked to use this sketch, which is hand drawn by Kazan.
Since the sponsor was Scor it, I thought I would make a little project that would be fun to give to family and friends when the weather starts getting cooler. It's a little gift bag with an instant Hot Cocoa packet inside.
THANK YOU Kazan and Laura for inviting me to be your guest designer this week....I had lots of fun creating a few projects with your awesome sketch!!!
My pictorial today will be how to make a Hot Cocoa Bag. Just pop in a little bag of instant cocoa and tah-dah.....you have a fun gift.
First you will need a piece of designer paper or card stock cut to the size of 6 1/2" X 9 1/2".
Align your paper with 9 1/2" side along the left side of your Scor it. Score a line at the 1" mark. Then, turn the paper around and align the 6 1/2" side along the left hand side of your Scor it. Score a line at the 3 1/2", 4 1/2", 8" and 9" marks. Use the picture above for guidance.
After you have all your lines scored....cut from the bottom up to the 1" score line on the two smaller 1" sections....use picture above for guidance. Now crease all your scored lines. With your bag upside down, the snipped pieces being at the top now, run glue along the tiny piece on the right side. Fold it over and glue it to the opposite side to form your bag. Fold the bottom tabs in...small ones first, then the larger ones and glue in place.
Next, crimp the top edges of your bag...see picture above for guidance. This will help the bag close easier at the end.
For a little extra detail I used some decorative scissors to trim the top edge....this step is optional of course.
Next you will need a piece of card stock cut at 3 1/2" X 2 3/4". Stamp your favorite sentiment and any other design you may want here. I used a few Stampin' Up sets to create mine. I then inked the edges to give it a distressed look and used a corner punch on the upper corners for a bit more added interest. Adhere it to your bag toward the bottom edge.
To make the holes for your ribbon to thread through, from the top of the bag about 3/4" down and about 1 3/4" apart...punch two (2) holes. You will punch through all thicknesses.
Insert your little bag of instant cocoa and a sweet note...tie it up with 16" of pretty ribbon and you now have a gift for that special friend or family member that will warm their tummies and their hearts.

Well, that's it for this little pictorial, I hope you have enjoyed and want to try one real soon!
THANK YOU for stopping by to see me today and please come back soon....I will be posting a few more projects made with Kazan's wonderful sketch for this week. HUGS!!!!

Hi DeeDeee, am I ready your tutorial right?

When you say...Then, turn the paper around and align the 8" side along the left hand side of your Scor it... do you mean the 6 1/2" side?

Even though it doesn't get very cold here in Miami, that bag of cocoa sure does look yummy! Very nicely done DeeDee. And congrats on being the guest designer at 2S4Y!!
